#100HappyDays: Day 61
A Good Hug

I've always been a hugger. I'll hug complete strangers if the mood strikes. Over the years, I have limited my hug quota due to the strains of propriety, but there's something about a hug that can make the heart soar.

I'm not talking about the half-hearted hugs that are simply done because the other person leaned in for one. I'm talking about the kind of hugs that leave you not wanting to let go at the end.

#100HappyDays: Day 60
Singing Like No One's Listening

Even if I sound like a troll, nothing makes me feel better than belting out some girl power song. I don't need people to listen to it (and honestly, I'd rather that they didn't). It's for me and me alone.

#100HappyDays: Day 57
Studio Ghibli

I posted about Spirited Away back on Day 10 of the #100HappyDays Challenge, but my love for that movie is compounded upon the fact that I adore pretty much anything that Studio Ghibli puts out (I want to sit Hayao Miyazaki down for a long dinner and just talk to him until I understand his mind. Seriously, everything is so friggin' quality that I can't even contain the feels.

#100HappyDays: Day 56
New Things

I am a creature of habit. Stick me in one place for too long, and I end up following the same path every day, almost to the minute, flaws included.

That being said, I love new experiences. I love when something throws me for a loop, and I have no choice but to react. All in all, I am a big fan of massive change that sneaks up on you, and then catches you by surprise by yelling 'BOO!'

#100HappyDays: Day 54
Hope For Paws

If you've not heard about the wonder that is Eldad Hagar or Hope for Paws, I highly suggest you look them up.

Eldad and his team go out into the world (usually around California, but they've stretched their travel legs quite a bit as well) and rescue abandoned, abused, and sick animals and give them another chance at life. It's absolutely amazing what they do, and I truly believe they make the world a better place.

To learn more about their cause, go to their WEBSITE or their YOUTUBE PAGE. Feel free to donate there as well, if you're so inclined.

#100HappyDays: Day 51
Old Graveyards

Bear with me here... I'm not some creepy nightwalker who feels it necessary to commune with the dead.

There is so much freaking history in old graveyards.

My dad has some land over to the West of Nashville that has a couple of small, abandoned graveyards dating back to the early 1800s, and I find it to be incredibly interesting. This goes hand-in-hand with yesterday's post about my fascination with history. There's so much you can learn about a culture through their graveyards.

For example, in one of the graveyards on my dad's land, there was a rash of deaths all occurring at the same time, literally within days of each other. It leaves you to wonder why. Was there a sickness that came around? Was there a tragic accident? I'm betting on sickness based on the fact that it was a bunch of children and older people.

At the end of the day. SUPER interesting. I wouldn't live next door to one, though. That's just creepy.

#100HappyDays: Day 50

Ever since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by history. It's just a hobby, however, because memorizing dates and stuff is not my forte.

#100HappyDays: Day 49
Conflict Resolution

I am, at heart, a person who requires resolution for most - if not all - conflict in her life. It's something that I grapple with every day, because sometimes, there just isn't going to be resolution. Life leaves you hanging often, and that frustrates me to no end.

The comic above may be humorous, but I really and truly feel that way sometimes: I WILL get resolution here, so help me!! I'm learning to let go when things don't go my way or get wrapped up in a tight, nice, little bow; it's just a long, arduous learning process that I probably won't conquer until I'm dead and have nothing to worry about anymore.

#100HappyDays: Day 47
Jennifer Aniston / Smartwater

Jennifer Aniston has gotten a lot of hate over the last few years since her departure from Friends, but I adore her. She's beautiful, seems like an honest-to-God sweet, kind, down-to-Earth person, and she's not one of the media whores who makes up crap just to remain relevant. Plus, she's funny as heck.

Smartwater is overpriced and probably not as amazing as I think it is, but I think it tastes wonderful. So there. Deal with it.

#100HappyDays: Day 46

It may be hipster of me, but I adore this site. If I was independently wealthy, I would spend 100% of my money here. That's most likely hyperbole, but most of me doesn't care.

#100HappyDays: Day 45
Back To the Future

It is a lifelong dream of mine to own a Delorean of my very own, complete with a Flux Capacitor.
Also, Marty McFly is my spirit animal, and even today I have a massive crush on Michael J Fox, Parkinson's be damned.

"Your kids are gonna love it..."

Life Update: Where In the World Is Stefers the Great?

I haven't written anything for the past couple of Sumptuous Saturdays, thinking that perhaps my lack of stuff to write about would be hidden by the fact that I have been posting daily microblogs for the #100HappyDays Challenge, but...

Instead, I'm sitting here scoffing at myself.

Seriously, Stefanie? You're posting a single picture a day, sometimes with a short, 1-sentence explanation. It's not hard, and putting the post together takes around, oh, 2 seconds. And yet here you are, wracking your brain to find a single, piddly little thing to write about.

All of that being said, I figured now was the best time to give you all a life update on Stefers.

I'm still moving to Korea in February, so I've reached the "oh, it's actually time to get all of my paperwork, expenses, and personal belongings together" stage. For example, I'm going to get my fingerprints done on Monday, and I am absolutely, wholeheartedly terrified.

No, I don't know why. I'm not a felon. I've never killed anyone, stolen anything, committed any sort of fraud... And yet I'm scared. I can't explain it other than to say, "It's irrational. Shut up."

At any rate, that's happening on Monday morning before I go to work.

What else...

My sister, my parents, and I are having a garage sale next weekend, hoping to sell off the majority of our clutter.

I just need to get rid of everything before I leave, and MomLady and Popsicle have more clutter in their house than they know what to do with. I'm always a big proponent of empty tabletops and such, but their house... magazines, letters, various other kitschy things... everywhere. I don't know how they do it.

Don't get me wrong; it's not dirty, and it's not like they're hoarders or anything... There's just a lot of that clutter on the counters and whatnot that tends to accumulate after living in a house for 20 years. It also doesn't help that, over the last 5 years, they have had both of their daughters living with them at some point as well as my Grandmother (aka the QUEEN of clutter and kitsch) for a brief stint after a stroke.*

Now that they're planning on retirement**, I can practically feel their itch to downsize, get rid of all of the crap, and start new. I totally get that (said the girl who is selling everything and moving to South Korea on a whim).

In other news, I have felt very productive in the writing department as of late. I've been writing more often on the online magazine that I write for, I've been really steady on 52 Weeks, and I have things in the pipeline for HAT Korea.*** Being that, prior to a few months ago, I was relatively MIA on here, it makes me feel good to have some semblance of a schedule on here. Not only that, but I'm actually sticking with it! Very exciting in my world.

Cupcake is doing well. MomLady, as she is wont to do, has added a bit of extra weight to her hips by way of scraps, but I have made it clear that, until Cupcake moves over with me to South Korea, she will not make my dog fat. I don't know what it is, but my family has the tendency to turn our dogs into fatty mcfat-fats, and with Cupcake's heart murmur, I really don't want to tax it more than it already is. You hear that, MomLady?? You will not make my dog fat!!

Well, that's everything for now. Hope you're all having lovely, wonderful Falls. Enjoy the scarf weather, and go to a park with a blanket and a book. Trust me. You won't regret it.

*I will most likely be fussed at for calling my parents cluttery when MomLady reads this post.

**Popsicle is already retired, but MomLady is retiring next year, or so she keeps telling everyone. Only time will tell if she'll actually be able to step away from her work.

***HAT Korea is currently on hiatus until things pick up more with my move. I expect that, starting next week, I'll have a lot more to write about what with all of the paperwork that I'll be doing.

#100HappyDays: Day 41

I have more scarves than I know what to do with, but I refuse to get rid of them. Each one has a specific memory tied to it, and all of them make me smile. Plus, they're a reminder of my favorite time of the year. So I keep them out and visible all year long in my bedroom, 1) as a wall decoration and 2) as a wonderful wall of scarves to choose from for when the colder months come around.

#100HappyDays: Day 40

I am a big proponent of Autumn. In my opinion, it is quite literally the best time of the year. The weather is finally cooling down after an unrelenting summer, and everything is changing from dirt brown-colored to vibrant oranges and reds as far as the eye can see.

There's just something about going out to walk in a park, scarf wrapped snugly around one's neck, that makes the crisp air feel magical, as if anything can happen. It's a chance that the world gives us to hunker down before plunging into the brutal cold temperatures of Winter.

That's not to say that I don't love the Winter as well... Autumn is just my favorite. Sorry, Winter.
