Dinowalrus - Grounded

This one is a new band for me, but I'm pretty much in love already. I definitely dig the retro-ish sound to it and want to listen to more of their work.

Dinowalrus formed in Brooklyn, NY in 2008 and is a self-described "psychedelic synth-rock band... comprised of vocalist/guitarist Pete Feigenbaum, synth and bass wizard Liam Andrew, and veteran drummer Max Tucker.

Their first single, Electric Car Gas Guitar/Cage Those Pythons, was released in December of 2008 and was followed a couple of months later by their sophomore single, BEAD. The success of those two singles led to a 1-album contract with Kanine Records, which resulted in their first album, %, getting a release date in January 2010. It received mixed reviews, but nothing too disparaging.

They continued on, releasing their second album, Best Behavior, in March of 2012, and they recently released their 3rd album, Complexion, in June of this year.

All in all, they seem to be doing ok albeit a bit indie, so I'm looking forward to hearing new music from them in upcoming years.

Peace.
Stef.

"Purple Things"

Exercise #28: "Purple Things"
What things are purple? Make a list.

You know, you don't really notice it, but purple appears quite frequently in nature. When I think nature, my mind immediately imagines greens, browns, and generally all kinds of neutral colors, but purple is everywhere. It's pretty awesome.

Without further ado, the One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying, Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley:

Great, huh? I don't remember when I was first introduced to this all-sorts-of-wonderful song, but I'm pretty sure it was care of my Mom. She definitely has provided quite a bit of the humor in my life, and I'm sure she's one of the big reasons…
