Exercise #149 : "Accidents"

What is the worst accident you have ever had? The most recent? The silliest? The strangest? The most painful? The most embarrassing?

This can be done for yourself or for a fictional character.

1,2,3, GO!

I am what you might call a klutz. No, not might. Would. Murphy's Law follows me around like a stalker, waiting for that precise moment to knock me off my feet or trip me with well-placed fishing wire and drag me into a dark alleyway for less-than-savory activities (Too much? Probably, but I'm ok with that.).

That being said, I am no stranger to accidents. I have an accident probably once a day. This is not an exaggeration. It's amazing that I've only fractured my elbow in my lifetime. I should probably have been in a full body cast at some point; I'm sure of it.

But anyways, I must make an attempt to categorize a few of these klutz-tacular moments.

My First House

Exercise #148 : "My First House"

Your first house or apartment: what do you remember about it?

Feel free to do this exercise either for yourself or a fictional character.

1,2,3, GO!

As far as childhood homes go, I had a pretty different experience in comparison to the rest of the world. Before I was 5, I lived in 5 different homes.

Exercise #146 : "After"

Write the first few sentences of a story that begins thus:

After she lost 300 pounds...

After she lost 300 pounds, Bridget's life finally seemed to be moving in the right direction. She had a boyfriend and a steady job, and she had never felt better about herself. Of course, her self esteem had been never been anything about which to boast, but it was something to look in the mirror and smile for once.

She had just finished applying mascara to her lashes when her cellphone vibrated in two short spurts followed by a clip from Aerosmith's "Dude Looks Like a Lady."

"Hello?" she said.

"Hey," said her father, "How are you?"

"Fine, you?" Her father normally called once every few days to check on her, but something in his tone sounded strained.

"I'm alright." He took a deep breath. "Your mother is in the hospital."

You know when you start to have feelings for someone and kind of put him on this pedestal where he can do no wrong? Well, I had an epiphany the other day. That's where I've been putting Boy (click link to catch up on the story). I found myself thinking, He knows about all of my faults and whatnot, but I have yet to find something about him that I don't like. I was writing about this in my journal, and that thought scared me. I mean, I've known this guy since I was 15, and I can't think of any flaws of his?

Something's rotten in Denmark, says I.

We Interrupt Our Regularly Scheduled Programming...

This post may come off a bit emo, but... bear with me. If you want a post that has no touch of emo, then go HERE.

I had a realization the other day:

I am completely and 100%
OVER my ex.

Praise Jeeesuuuuuuus!

Now, I've had this "realization" before, and I think I've actually written about it on "52 Weeks" here. But there was something about this specific epiphany that really hit home for me.

A Torrential Downpour Put My Life On Hold For a Bit

Don't worry, dear friends, for I am alive. Not only that, but I'm kickin', too!

If you've been keeping up with the news lately, you probably have heard of the devastating flood that drowned my poor, beloved Nashville last weekend. Thankfully, all I suffered was a basement full of water (6-7 feet, to be exact), and a few downed trees (one of which resulted in me losing all of my school books and notes when it knocked the trunk of my car open; that same tree went on to land on two of my roommates' cars). We didn't have power for a couple of days either.

But I am thankful. It could have been so much worse.
