"Where the Dust Settles"

Exercise #85 : "Where the Dust Settles"

This exercise is about bringing your attention to highly specific detail. In the room where you are right now, where does the dust settle?

Interesting. Quick and to the point. I'm all for that.

GO!

My living room needs to be cleaned. Badly. Do you want to know how I know that? Well, besides the rather disheveled, "lived in" look I've got going on, there is a nice, thick layer of dust that's settled on each surface:
  • the entertainment unit, including the shelves inside it
  • the end tables
  • the DVD player, Comcast cable box, stereo, speakers
  • beneath the couch
  • window sills
  • the coffee table
  • the little wooden bowls on my coffee table
  • the candle holders on my fireplace mantle
  • the fireplace mantle
  • the door frames
Ugh, I simply cannot continue. Must. Clean. Now.

Peace.
Stef.

P.S. I'm going to the Nashville chapter's NaNoWriMo kickoff party tonight! I'm so excited! :)

Exercise #83 : "Yellow List"
What things are yellow? Make a list. At the end of the five minutes, note the three you find most curious.
Ah, yellow. One of my least favorite colors. I mean, it's nice and all, but there are so many versions of this color that are simply eye-raping. Anyways, on with the list.

You know, you don't really notice it, but purple appears quite frequently in nature. When I think nature, my mind immediately imagines greens, browns, and generally all kinds of neutral colors, but purple is everywhere. It's pretty awesome.

Great, huh? I don't remember when I was first introduced to this all-sorts-of-wonderful song, but I'm pretty sure it was care of my Mom. She definitely has provided quite a bit of the humor in my life, and I'm sure she's one of the big reasons…
